As most of my family, friends and colleagues know, I consider myself an experienced dog owner. I’ve had a dog in my life ever since I was 4 years old. So, when it came time to adopt my second Siberian Husky, I figured I was well equipped and ready for the challenge since Huskies can be a very demanding breed. Boy was I wrong!!! Just like people, every dog has a unique personality and behavior. At around 6 months, my new puppy Fredo decided he didn’t want to stay home alone anymore and every opportunity he had to destroy something in the house while I was at work and the girls were at school, he took it. After destroying “4” pieces of furniture, jumping up on the kitchen counter, taking dishes out of the sink and even chewing through a few wires and even the cable, I decided that was enough. My good friends the Zarichaks recommended Dan Dowling and NJ DOGS Training Center. From the first hour, it was immediately evident that he knew his way around this difficult breed and had a strong knowledge of dog behavior in general. Dan was able to give me countless training techniques and more importantly constant support. Dan doesn’t just focus on your dog, he will also train you. The key to a successful behavior modification for your dog is that you are fully committed and consistently follow through with training every day. Because of this, I now can recognize certain behaviors that have been problematic and address them immediately before there is an issue. I can confidently say, Fredo is now a happy and well-adjusted boy. His destructive behavior is a thing of the past. I feel very fortunate to have met Dan and NJ DOGS, because not only is he a fantastic dog trainer, Dan is a genuinely kind and caring person, who is never too busy to return a phone call or reach out to check in on Fredo. It says a lot about a trainer, when your dog not only show great improvement, but are so happy and excited each time they see him. Working with Dan is so much more than just a couple of classes. It is an ongoing relationship that benefits not just Fredo but my entire family. Can’t say enough about NJ DOGS……thanks so much Dan!

My puppy and I haven't been the same since football this morning! Thank you Daniel Dowling!!! My husband is calling him a sissy and loving the quiet in our home. The kids are enjoying their privacy too. He has been awesome! A few errors on my part, but I am working on him while balancing home. Actually I just saw him move, told him no, and he went exactly back to position. It has been 11hrs since he met you and Pirate has been outstanding all day! I am making a lifetime resolution to keep communicating with dogs and to do my best on improving each day with them. (Tears of joy while typing)
October 25, 2015I want to thank Daniel Dowling of NJ DOGS TRAINING CENTER for helping me learn how to train my dog. He taught me so much in just one day, he made me realize that my dog isn't the one doing anything wrong it's mostly me that is doing something wrong. I have a lot of practice to do with handling my dog Junior. My dog in just one day is already a 100% better and listening skills are better. If you want to be a great owner and care for your dog by training your dog the right way please take the time and message him, you will be amazed how smart your dog really is.

Dan is definitely our trainer for life with our chocolate labradoodle, Stella. Since our initial 3 hour training, our relationship with her has become stronger and more enjoyable. She is still a puppy and we still have issues, but slowly but surely we are all learning and that is thanks to Dan and NJ DOGS Training. I look forward to our follow up trainings and learning more about leadership and building that special bond with our girl Stella. Thanks Dan!
January 18, 2018Had a Great experience with Dan from NJ Dog Training. Researched and met several trainers but either the facility or the trainer wasn't what we were looking for. I called Dan and told him what we were looking to accomplish with training our new German Shepherd puppy. His program worked great for us. Our dog is doing great and we are going to be signing up for more lesson in the near future.

Dan made such an impact in our dogs behavior in our first session. I was honestly amazed at the progress he made with our dogs. We had tried everything we knew to do with our lab mix that had a behavior of pulling when on a leash to the point of making walks an unpleasant experience. After our first session, she is now no longer pulling as she used to and walking has become pleasant. I will now have a jogging partner, which I've always desired with her, but it was impossible because of her pulling. I would highly recommend his training to others without hesitation.
April 14, 2016Dan has done wonders for my rescue dog!! She came to me an anxious, fearful mess! I had no back story, but she was obviously abused and terrified of men. Most trainers would shy away from working with this type of dog, but Dan accepted the challenge. Today, 10 sessions later, my Fiona is a loving, happy, obedient pup. She has learned how to be a dog. She loves to run and play... especially on the beach! She loves to walk in the evening, off leash, and take in her surroundings. I can't say enough good things about Dan's training!
